I think moving archival data to hosted cloud services is a giant mistake. I can't stress this enough. If you're going to use a hosted solution then you have to use more than one, keeping all your data with a hosting provider is no different than keeping all your data in one physical location, if they go under, all your data may as well. Heck, even if it is just no longer profitable for them in many instances, go back over your contracts carefully.

Great topic and presentation that I missed at CNI. As a parent it inspires me to teach my children about the perils of information in this age. Regarding the discipline of librarianship, who better to drive this realization and how we collectively respond to it. The challenge is the arguably popular rejection of authoritative bodies and the championing of ignorance as the badge of the non elite, all the more reason to get this into grade school curriculum.

Mr. Hunter R. Rawlings lll is very intelligent and is a role model to me I would love to meet such an intelligent man.

could the killer app be wikipedia, one of the heavily trafficked sites on the net? think about it: libraries adapt/adopt wp and fill it with linked data to library resources. DP.LA already has a cool tool that injects dpla metadata (i.e. linked data!) into wp with their wikipeDPLA app dp.la/apps/22.
